From Nespresso to Ooh La Laa

Every year on December 6th, there’s a ball at the presidential palace to celebrate Finland’s Independence Day. It’s televised and we get to judge all the outfits as the guests arrive to greet the president and his spouse. Yes, this pretty much is the only real red carpet event in Finland.

This year Finnish artist/blogger/designer Outi Les Pyy, who is Finland’s foremost authority on ethical fashion and recycling, got invited by Nespresso to design a dress for the event using their coffee capsules. It’s amazing, that’s all I have to say:

You can read more about the dress by clicking the links (in Finnish) but I’m sure you can get inspired even if you can’t speak Finnish:

I, however, got depressed. Other people make amazing evening gowns and I can’t even be arsed to finish a pattern for a basic top that I started two months ago. *le sigh*
