What The Flock

jeweled shoulder sweater (old f21, but similar here or you can DIY it here!) chambray collared top (f21) velvet flocked pants (Ross) shoes (old Via Spiga Edita pump but in black here or here) purse (bamboo sky) lipstick (MAC Candy Yum Yum)
I'm always the most satisfied when I score a deal from Ross, more than even from Forever 21. I think it's because at Forever 21, you can expect a certain level of merchandising strategy. You're destined to find a fashionable steal as soon as you enter. At Ross, however, it's not blatantly starring you in the face in the form of a well merchandised mannequin, corporate conspired window display or obviously colorized bays. You literally need to thumb through every hanger, so when you finally come across something you like, it truly feels like you discovered a treasure. And furthermore, said treasure doubles in value when you flip the tag and realize it's only $16.99! It's like, "Yessssssssss, winning!"

Today's outfit was all about the deals! Both tops from F21 (on sale), Via Spiga Edita pumps from Nordsrom Rack (with additional discount) and these totes amazing velvet flocked skinnies from Ross. I was really impressed by the quality and fit. Kept it's shape all day (no saggy ass or bunchy knees even after 10 hours of wear) and the pattern of the brocade looks so good! I honestly don't think I could have found a better version at Forever 21 for this price. Anyone else notice how F21 pricing has gone up about 15% - 20% in the past few years?

Any how, these pants are also a valuable find because it's a great transition piece into the Fall/Holiday season. I'm always drawn to velvet for the holidays, but never end up taking the plunge because it's just so specific to that time of year. I think the thin brocade pattern is just the right amount of velvet for it to be appropriate from now (pre-fall) all the way through next February (early spring)!
