How did you get your start in the industry?

Right after college I started my career at Gap Inc. in New York City and developed a keen business sense and the love for design. My obsession with quality paper products then compelled me to join the team at Union Street Papery in San Francisco, where I polished my greeting card retail and wholesale skillset. I had a love for both well-designed greeting cards and the details behind running a business that provided enough inspiration to launch my own brand. In 2002 I started Tallu-lah greeting cards. Our hand calligrapher cards, letterpress printed on exquisite Italian papers were an instant hit because I planned it that way… (Should I mention I am also a corporate event planner?). Today, you can find Tallu-lah in stores across the country as well as in exclusive collections for Tiny Prints and Wedding Paper Divas.

What is your favorite perk of the job?

Greeting cards bring out emotions in people, whether you are giving or receiving. I love to see someone happy when they receive or give one of my cards.

What are your favorite design trends right now?

My favorite trend right now is working with gold foil. We design in this print process often for Tiny Prints, Wedding Paper Divas and my own greeting card line. I mostly like pairing gold and black together for a modern bold look.

Go-to color palette?

I just built a house with my husband and our color palette is black, grey, white and reclaimed wood. I love using these neutral colors for card designs and adding a pop of color or gold for a fun flair.

Describe your own personal style.

My style is modern and casual with whimsical accents.

What’s your favorite Tiny Prints design?

My favorite design right now is this gold foil birth announcement. It started as a Holiday card and was popular so they kept it on as a birth announcement too!
