5 Top Fitness Apps

Get Your Butt Back In Shape With These Top Fitness Apps!

We could all use a little extra motivation to get moving after the holiday season. We’ve put together a list of fantastic apps to get you motivated (and keep you honest) when it comes time to shed that winter weight.

My Fitness Pal

We love this app! You can type in whatever you ate that day and it tells you the number of calories you have left for the day. If you are cooking a meal you just enter the ingredients and the app gives you the nutritional information for each serving. This app has – by far – the largest database for food and is really easy to use! Enter any exercise and the duration to calculate the number of calories burned. It saves your frequent workouts so with one click you can enter it into your daily diary. This app is a game changer for those too busy to worry about counting calories. Price: Free

The Johnson & Johnson Official 7 Minute Workout

Have seven minutes? Then you have time to work out! Perfect for those of us stuck at the office or who can’t get away for a lunch time workout. This app has you working just long enough to get your blood pumping and leaves you feeling energized. We recommend sneaking this in three times a day. Price: Free

Lose-it

Works the same way as My Fitness Pal, you enter your information when creating a profile, decide your activity level, and determine your goal weight and how many pounds per week you want to lose. Then this app just calculates the rest. We’ve found that this app works best with name-brand American food. Price: Free

Pact

This one is a little different. Are you the bet maker of the group? Find yourself saying ‘I’d bet you $100 I could make that’? Then this app is for you! Here you can bet money on doing workouts or going to the gym. If you don’t then you lose – simple as that. The pot is communal and as long as you exceed your goals money comes in instead of going out! Price: Free, unless you’re a slacker

Endomondo Sports Tracker

The app keeps you responsible through social media by using the GPS features on your phones to track running, cycling, jogging, skating—any sport that you can measure by distance (plus a few others). You then share your progress with friends by connecting Endomonodo to other online social accounts, like Facebook, so both you and your friends can keep track of your progress. If you don’t want your friends calling you up asking why you’ve been on the couch all day this is a good one to try. Price: Free ($4.99 for Pro Version)
