Most Researched 2015 Fitness Methods

The most common New Year’s Eve resolution is to lose weight – But which fitness methods should you use?

It’s absolutely no surprise that Yahoo, Bing and Google are being slammed with search requests related to fitness plans. Losing weight is the most popular New Year’s resolution, and the one most often broken. Want to know how everyone else is planning to get fit this year? Check out the 6 most popular fitness methods of 2015.

1. Body Weight Training

It’s not just about push-ups and sit-ups, there is a large range of exercises that fall into this category. Think about it: squats, crunches, planks, leg lifts, donkey kicks, mountain climbers… like we said, a huge list. Body weight training is becoming more popular because it requires little to no equipment and can be done almost anywhere. There is no need for an expensive gym membership. All you need is a little space and gravity.

2. High-Intensity Interval Training

This type of exercise has become quite a bit more popular over the last 2 years. The idea is to alternate moderate activity with short, intense activity periods. This boosts metabolism and improves cardio fitness. It also crushes calories with an estimated 50% additional calories lost during the same period of activity with only moderate intensity.

3. Strength Training

Strength Training has remained popular and may even see an increase of popularity over the next few years. People are working toward fit, strong bodies as opposed to the willowy figures that grace the covers of most top fashion mags. Doctors are also recommending that older people begin weight training to improve overall quality of life. Why not get started now?

4. Personal Training

When we say personal training this can mean anything from a one on one training session to a group boot camp. Taking classes or booking sessions with a personal trainer is hot right now. Gyms and trainers are handing out free session passes like candy right now, so go hit up a free session and find the perfect trainer for you.

5. Yoga

Who doesn’t love Yoga? It’s a great, low impact workout that pretty much anyone can do. You can opt for traditional yoga or step it up to a hot yoga or power yoga class for a more intense experience.

6. Outdoor Activities

Get back in touch with nature and work out in the great outdoors. Hiking, swimming, canoeing, surfing, running, biking, adventure courses, mountain climbing… all great ways to get out and get fit. Let’s face it, gyms smell bad and you never know if the last guy cleaned the equipment off or not. Bonus, a lot of local parks have fitness trails with workout stations along the path (free=good). So if you don’t have the time or cash for a long adventure just head over to your closest park.
