Winter Beauty Tips

The Best Way to Winter-Proof Your Looks

  1. Hydrate your skin! This is the most important of all winter beauty tips. Harsh winds and cold weather sucks the moisture from your face. Use a lightweight moisturizer with SPF daily to keep your skin from becoming wind burnt and chapped.
  2. Reduce Redness. Anytime you’re exposed to cold your skin turns red. To counteract this use a concealer with a green tint to balance out your skin, sounds weird but I promise it works! This is helpful too with runny noses where tissues are constantly leaving your skin red and raw.
  3. Cold winds equal watery eyes. Use waterproof mascara and eyeliner to keep your makeup where it should be. Avoiding raccoon eyes is a must!
  4. Set Your Makeup. Now more than ever we have layers, scarves, hats and more rubbing against our skin as we take on and off our winter layers. Use a translucent pressed powder to keep your makeup in place.
  5. Moisturize Your Lips. Want to keep your lips nice and kissable for New Year’s Eve? Use a tinted lip balm with SPF to keep them smooth. Avoid anything matte or long wearing since these dry out your lips almost on contact. Keep a great lip balm on you at all times.
  6. Change Colors. Most of us lose any tan we had in Summer so remember to trade out foundations, BB Cream, Concealer, powder, eyeshadows, and other products for those that are more suited to a less tan you.
  7. Sick All Winter? Most of us get sick at least once or twice in winter. This makes skin look pale and flat. If you have to go out and still want to look your best apply foundation that has some radiance to it so that you don’t look like a zombie, just feel like one.
  8. The Eyes Have It. Winter winds and the sniffles often leave your eyes looking red and feeling their worst. To counteract this use eyedrops specifically designed to re-moisturize the eye. This leaves you bright-eyed and looking your best.
  9. Keep Glitter In Its Place. To keep your New Year’s Eve look where you want it make sure to use a base under your glittery or shimmering eyeshadow. This keeps it from falling where you don’t want it and keeping it where you do.
  10. Brush Off. Clean your makeup brushes! This should in reality be done once a month but I know for some it’s been years. These are a breeding ground for bacteria and tons of dead skin cells. Do you want to put that on your face? Right now is a good time to give them a good washing, especially if you’ve been sick. Germs can stick to things and you don’t want to catch the same thing twice!
