Home After the Storm

Hi Folks!

I’m back from my honeymoon – a beautiful nine days in Maui, Hawaii – and just in time to dig out from Prince Edward Island’s latest winter storm. If you haven’t heard about our recent storm, this Buzzfeed article should catch you up. What a mess!

Today was not as I had anticipated. It takes nearly 24 hours to fly from Hawaii, several more if you get stuck on the mainland because of a bridge closure, but somehow that didn’t stop me. I’m tired, but the feeling is far from unfamiliar. In fact, it feels like a lot of moments in my life – field courses, late nights frantically writing my thesis, or writing for music festivals. It’s the feeling of exhaustion, but it’s also twinged with excitement and anticipation.

I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I love new beginnings. Today feels like one… we made it back to the Island through messy, snow-covered roads and I managed to find my way to work. I actually wanted to go to work because I love my job.
