What I wore ... to jump in puddles on a rainy day!

Look! I bought a raincoat!! This is quite the momentous moment for me! I'm no fan of coats, and I have long despised waterproof ones. They're just not very flattering, are they? And none of them are really fashion-proof either. Ponchos are only really appropriate for Disneyland (or if you're a tourist and you're not ashamed of it). Cagoules remind me of trudging to school and those 'shower proof' jackets you get for music festivals are fine for about 8 seconds of Scottish rain, but anything more than that and you're going to be soaked through. Who needs that in their life? Plus none of them have a vintage twist, which is all I really look for in life :P

But having said that, all of the above are better than getting drenched. I've got a lot of brollies as they are my 'go to' for wet weather, but it does get frustrating carrying them about all day. Plus we get a lot of crazy wind here, so it gets tiresome trying to battle the elements when I do need it! It's time I got me a proper rain coat. . . but nothing too proper of course!

Recently I've been avoiding stores like Topshop because I always find their range massively disappointing. They only make clothing two ways: massively shapeless OR crazy skin tight. It's all oversized tops and mc hammer pants... or bandage dresses and crop tops. They all either make you look bigger than you are, or they leave you feeling you need to reach for the spanx. That's no way to treat a lady! Structured clothing made from real material (none of this stretchy polyester crap) is designed to show off the amazing shape you have, and I can honestly tell you it'll suit you more than 90% of what you find in there... *ahem* Highstreet-shops-rant-over ... When popping in with David to look at the gents section over the weekend, I spotted this jacket and I couldn't believe my eyes; it might not be well fitted, but being see-through it will keep the rain off and it will go with EVERYTHING! Clear rain coats are very 60's mod, which makes it right up my street... Plus it's a really sturdy plastic and it has a hood AND it's long enough to cover my butt - that's pretty much everything you need in bad weather :D The only downside is that you can't fold it up into a neat little package to carry about, but it's a lot lighter to carry than an umbrella so I can live with that. I just love that it doesn't clash *ahem*ruin* with what you're wearing. Plus it kinda insulates the heat a little as it's not a breathable fabric. It's ideal for music festivals and late night beach bbq's and my first purchase from them in more months than I'd care to calculate!

So, to honour it's first outing I've paired it up with a floral dress from Mango (bought a long time ago, sorry!) and pink polka dot shoes are from Primark. My new 'OH' 'Dear' earrings are my current favourites and are from Paper Bureaucracy (If you love these you should enter this giveaway) and my amazing 'BANG' gun necklace is handmade with a vintage vinyl record by Vinyl Justice. I think these accessories work crazy well together, I've been wearing them all week!

All that I need now is a pair of sensible shoes. . . but don't hold your breath for that one! Haha!
