Bend & Snap Friendship Bracelets

There’s basically no movie character that I look up to more than Elle Woods. When I was younger I loved Legally Blonde because it was cute and funny. But as I’ve gotten older I realized how great it really is. Elle is so confident and smart and so unashamed to just be who she is. So when I was trying to come up with some gifts for my girlfriends for Galentine’s Day, I knew I had to throw some Elle-spiration in there. I’ve seen these types of wire bracelets on a few blogs, but I wanted to make my own version with an Elle twist. Her signature move, “the bend & snap” makes for the perfect 2-person friendship bracelet. Here’s how to make your own!

DIY Bend & Snap Friendship Bracelets – what you need:

  • wire
  • round nose pliers
  • 2 ribbons or wrist bands
  • 4 end connectors
  • 4 jump rings
  • 2 lobster clasps

Step 1: Shape the words

Use the pliers to shape the wire into the words “bend” and “snap.” It might be beneficial to print or write the words out first to use as a guide, but I just eyeballed these. Make sure they are about the same size as each other, and not too big to fit around your wrist. But other than that, you can choose how big or small you want the words to be.

Step 2: Connect the wire

When you have both of the words shaped, fit the ends of the wire around each of the words into end connectors. Loop the wire through and around the connectors and then wrap it around itself so that the connectors stay put.

Step 3: Finish the bracelet

Cut 2 pieces of ribbon or band that fit around the rest of your wrist. Fit end connectors to the ends of each piece of ribbon. For each bracelet, loop the one of the jump rings on the wire through an end connector on the ribbon to connect the two sections. Add a lobster clasp to the other end connector. Fit the bracelet around your wrist and connect the lobster clasp to the jump ring. Give the other one to a friend and use the bracelets to channel the power of Elle Woods!
