Witch Overnight Clearing Serum Review

Behold my latest discovery: the Witch Overnight Clearing Serum.

Aka the best skincare product I have tried in A LONG TIME, which is saying a lot give that I've been working my way through a bag of Space NK deluxe samples for ages and the majority of my skincare is high end.

The Witch Naturally Clear Overnight Clearing Serum is a new release, having launched towards the end of last month. I managed to get my hands on one a little earlier and the day it arrived, I applied it the same night. This wasn't because I was excited to use it, in fact I didn't really have massively high hopes for it making a difference to my skin, it was just because it was on my bedside table and I was that exhausted, I didn't have the energy to rummage around in my stash to find a new night cream.

I happened to apply it facing my mirror and what I saw really did perk me up as there was a massive difference to my skin. When I first test out a new skincare product, I always apply it to one half of my face first, so even though I was really tired, I still did this out of habit. I caught a glimpse of my skin in the mirror and had to take a closer look.

What I saw made me instantly realise how wrong I was about this product and I have looked forward to using it every day since.

I was literally astounded with how hydrated my skin looked. I don't recall ever using a skincare product that has made my skin look so instantly hydrated from any price point.

I have oily skin but it is very dehydrated and this winter, I have actually been getting some drier patches, presumably because of the combination of cold weather and central heating that I have been subjecting myself to. Needless to say, my skin has been in desperate need of hydrating and I've been trying a few different products to help it, with varying success. This serum has been the best thing yet.

So let me tell you a little more about it. The Witch Overnight Clearing Serum is oil free and uses witch hazel to work over night to reduce the appearance of spots and to help to prevent future blemishes from breaking out. While doing that, it should also leave the skin looking clear, radiant and visibly hydrated.

The formula is pretty powerful stuff as it contains witch hazel which helps to clear and contract the pores as well as Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) which is known for its moisturising properties as well as for its ability to help to promote an even skin tone.

You can apply the serum alone or underneath a moisturiser and although it is an marketed as being for use at night, theres no reason at all why you can't use this during the day. I do and find that it is a great base for make up.

I have been applying this every single night since I got it and I have loved the results. It feels cooling and gentle when applied to the skin and doesn't irritate me at all. The only time that I feel a slight tingling sensation is when I have exfoliated before using it but it isn't a sensation that irritates my skin, changes its colour or anything like that.

It instantly makes my skin look more hydrated and when I wake up in the morning, my skin does look as though I've had a good nights sleep. Most of the time, I haven't and I do get far less sleep than I should so the fact that this serum can help my skin to look radiant and healthy rather than dull, tired and grey is a massive benefit to me.

I don't suffer from acne or very severe breakouts often but I do suffer from the occasional spot and lots of blocked pores and I have really noticed a significant difference since using this serum. They look A LOT clearer and I've found that I have got far less little spots where my blackheads are since using this product.

When I first started using this, I had a few little spots on my cheek (the ones where they look like blackheads that have turned into little whiteheads) and they were quite red as well as the skin around them. Using this serum reduced the red colour overnight and I woke up in the morning without the redness in my skin. The spots had dried up a little to the point where I could easily just wipe the surface to remove them easily.

I also had a large bump under the skin on my other cheek that I knew was going to turn into a spot. It didn't have a head on it at all but it was red and sore. After using the serum for only one night, I woke up to my skin feeling far less sore, looking a lot less red and the spot had a small head on it. Although its a bit naughty to do so, I gave the skin a tiny squeeze, the yellow gunk came out without leaving the skin looking too broken and without causing any additional redness or making my skin feel sore. I applied the serum again and left my skin for the day. By the evening you wouldn't have even known that there had been a blemish on my skin. I couldn't believe how quick it had worked.

My skin looks a lot clearer since using this serum and now if I do get a blemish, the serum draws it out by the next morning and my skin isn't red at all. I absolutely love it. The only downside is that I do find that the bottle runs out quite quickly as the brilliant pump on it, although easy to use, dispenses a little too much product than I need for my face. I've started using half a pump rather than dispensing the full amount but in all honesty, for the low price, I don't mind having to repurchase it every month or so.

I would recommend this serum to anyone regardless of whether you have dry, oily or sensitive skin as I think that it would benefit everyone. It works brilliantly alone and with a moisturiser on top. I prefer to use it alone, especially during the day, as it is hydrating enough and leaves my skin looking healthy, clear and hydrated wheres a lot of moisturisers give me a shine that I just don't need on my oily skin during the day!

Buy your own from Boots, where at the moment there's 3 for 2 on selected skincare too, and from Superdrug where you can currently save 1/3 on Witch skincare.
