A visit to Coney Island...

Following on from my last post- the second part of our second day (what a mouthful)- was spent paying a little visit to New York's very own seaside superstar, Coney Island. A combination of all things twee, kitsch and wonderfully traditional about the seaside- Coney Island felt like a combination of Margate's Dreamland in it's prime and everything wonderfully bright and brilliant about Brighton too. Think hot dogs, ghost trains, sandy promenades and lots of candy floss and popcorn! Typically, being the Brit's that we are- we managed to bring the grey rainy weather to the coast with us too- but it certainly made us all the more determined to keep a smile on our faces- it wasn't that chilly after all- plus, meant we pretty much had the park to ourselves (and could've whizzed straight to the front of queues too, cheeky)!

After circuiting the park, and concluding it was a little too windy for a seaside stroll (you can probably tell from my mop, that the wind truly did me no favours)- Joe and I paid one more visit to the rides, discovering a certain Zoltar from one of my favourite films, Big! Although I can't be sure it was the exact one, I was careful in my attempts to not turn into Tom Hanks- and instead headed to the subway for a little shelter from the rain, and a trip back to the city before an evening of delicious dinner and catching one of our favourite bands, Wolf Alice- you're a good 'un New York!
