5 Kate-Inspired Resolutions (that you might actually keep!)

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Now that the wonderful, exciting new year is upon us, it is the perfect time to make resolutions. Everyone we know is making mental notes or Excel spreadsheet on things they hope to change for the next year. We bet Kate even makes New Years Resolutions (hopefully “wear more clothes that my fans can afford to buy” is on that list…). However, the fate for many of us (Kate included!) is a list of resolutions that have been abandoned, neglected, and turned into failures.

To start the year off right, it is recommended we create resolutions we can actually stick to and accomplish. We thought of our ultimate role model – the Duchess of Cambridge – and came up with five easy, inspiring resolutions to try this year!

1. Try a new sport

If “exercise more” or “get healthy” was on your resolutions list, replace it with this one! Kate LOVES sports, and we would love to try one of her favorite athletic activities. She’s been known to love tennis, field hockey, volleyball and rowing. Grab a friend and try out one of these sports. Love it? Join a local league! Hate it? That’s okay – you tried something new AND got a great work out!

2. Learn about the Royal Family

This resolution will knock “read more”, “learn something new”, and “continue royal obsession” off your list! (What, that third one isn’t on your resolution’s list?!) Take some time to learn about the rest of the royal family. Kate has to know all about her in-laws, and they are a fascinating bunch! Pick up a few books throughout the year and by next Christmastime, you’ll be educated enough to sneak into Sandringham!

3. Invest in a quality closet staple

Kate is a believer in closet staples – that is why she wears her favorite pieces for years and years. She finds something she loves, invests in it, and takes care of it. Pick a piece you LOVE (something Kate has worn, or something else you cannot live without) that will last you forever – look for high quality materials, reputable brands, and exquisite craftsmanship – and invest in it. You may have to save up all year long, but $1 a day will buy you a pair of Sledge pumps by next Christmas!

4. Go on “Lupo Walks”

Just like #1, the new year is all about getting healthy. As part of her healthy lifestyle, Kate is often seen walking Lupo around Kensington Park or at her country house. We like to pretend we have a “Lupo” that needs to be walked every day. If you have a dog, need to borrow one, or just pretend to have one, dedicating 15 minutes of your day to a “Lupo walk” will go a long way towards a healthy lifestyle.

5. Give back

If Kate has inspired us in a new way, it is definitely opening our eyes to opportunities with charities. There are so many ways to give back! Donate old clothes and baby items to a local women’s shelter. Spend a Saturday at an animal shelter or soup kitchen. Raise awareness by featuring your favorite charity on your popular blog or website. Even in the smallest ways, giving back to this world makes it a better place.

What are your New Years’ Resolutions? Are they royally-inspired?
