Keeping Up with the Cambridges-March 15

The Duchess of Cambridge was quite the busy (future) Queen bee this week! With four engagements we have lot’s to catch up on, so let’s get straight to it shall we?

This Week:

  • March 9- Commonwealth Celebrations! Monday marked the annual observance day for the 53 countries that make up the Commonwealth of Great Britain. Each year, there is a service held at Westminster Abbey where many Royal family members attend. This year was a first for Kate, and she did not disappoint. Looking brilliant in an Alexander McQueen pale pink coat adorned with pearl buttons, the Duchess met with various representatives throughout the Commonwealth. Although Kate has worn the coat before, along with her satin Prada pumps, she wore a new hat by Jane Taylor, and new morganite earrings by Kiki McDonough. • March 10- Getting a jump start on that Royal baby closet? On Tuesday, People Magazine reported that Kate was seen shopping at the popular Chelsea children’s boutique, Amaia. Apparently, she was browsing at both boys AND girls clothing so no further insight into the sex of the baby, but we are hoping for a little sister for Cheeks!
    • March 11- The Dalmatian Duchess! On Wednesday, the Duchess of Cambridge continued her week of Royal duties in Margate, Kent for an art-filled day. In conjunction with her patronage for the National Portrait Gallery, Kate paid a visit to the Turner Contemporary art gallery and the Resort Studios. Meeting with staff, and volunteers, Kate toured the works of art and met with locals in the community. Looking like a Seurat painting herself in a dalmatian coat by Hobbs, the Duchess dazzled with a sleek pony-tail, Annoushka pearl earrings, and her Stuart Weitzman “Power” pumps. Her best accessory of all though was her warm smile…she looked positively radiant!

    • March 12- From Westminster Abbey to Downton Abbey! On Thursday, the Duchess of Cambridge visited Ealing Studios, where many of the scenes of the popular British drama Downton Abbey, are filmed. Kate had the chance to step back in time and engage in loads of fun activities, including meeting with several members of the cast and crew, touring the upstairs and downstairs parts of the set, and even slapping on a pair of headphones to watch a scene being filmed! As a fan of the show, Kate must have been on cloud nine chatting with Mr. Carson and Lady Mary…and from the wide-eyed grins on their faces, so were they! The Duchess of Cambridge looked elegant in cream, in a new coat by Jojo Maman Bebe and her black suede pumps by Stuart Weitzman. For more bits and bobs on the.best.day.ever. click here!

    • March 13- Commemorating those who were lost…On Friday, the Duchess of Cambridge joined her husband the Duke of Cambridge, and several Royal family members at St. Paul’s Cathedral for a service commemorating the 13 year struggle in Afghanistan. The cathedral was brimming with political figures, servicemen, and family members of the fallen. Kate looked absolutely regal in a navy coat by Beulah, a side chignon, and a stunning new tanzanite earring and necklace set by G. Collins & Sons. She also wore a bespoke navy hat, and her Alexander McQueen shoes. A bittersweet day for all of those involved no doubt.

    • March 14- Royal housekeeper wanted! On Saturday, the Daily Mail reported that William and Kate put an ad out for a housekeeper in The Lady magazine. The position will be based at their country home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, and will require “loyalty and discretion” according to the description. The duties include cleaning, grocery shopping, and having experience within a family environment with dogs. I would tell you more, but I’m off to pack my bags…

    Next Week:

    • March 17- An annual tradition, Kate will hand out shamrocks on St. Patrick’s Day to the Irish Guards.
    • March 18- The Duchess of Cambridge will visit Brookhill Children’s Centre in London. There, she will learn more about the charity that “…helps parents build better lives for their children.”
