Flower Market

Hydrangea Haul

It’s not often I venture East, but sometimes the lure of fresh blooms followed by tea and cake with a friend is just too strong. Last Sunday Reem and I planned to spend the day together before she flew off to Dubai – I’m lucky to catch her in the country!

An early start was necessary, and as anybody that’s been to Columbia Road will know, you have to be prepared to jostle with the crowds and their army of Dachshunds (sausages seem to be the dog of choice for the East London crowd…no complaints from me!)

I picked up a huge bunch of hydrangeas (they always remind me of Sintra in Portugal where they grow everywhere!), and then we endeavoured to find somewhere we could warm up with a cuppa to spend a little longer together chatting before we went our separate ways.

A sofa at Forge & Co was our resting spot. Either we were sat there for far too long, or they got bored of all of our wedding-planning chat, but it became apparent that our wilting flowers were in need of a little TLC…a hint to go home!

It made me realise how much I enjoy a Sunday spent at the markets. Here’s to getting out more on the weekends in 2015!

What I Wore…
