NibbleBit 2.0

When you sign in to your NibbleBit account, you will see our NEW control panel.

Since 2009 we have been using a WordPress based system - but after almost 5 years, we have moved onto our own specially designed platform. This will mean the end of WordPress at NibbleBit. Our aim at NibbleBit is to provide the best possible blogging experience, and building our very own system from the ground up has allowed to implement features that would not have been possible using the WordPress system. It has also enabled our second aim of the upgrade - which was to improve social networking on NibbleBit. We want to create a place with more interactions - for blog owners and visitors alike.

We have been gradually upgrading our system in order to create a seamless 'switchover' process, which would create the least about of downtime and inaccessibility for our users. Initial testing has shown a vast improvement in website speeds using NibbleBit 2.0 - which we plan to improve further.

In our old control panel, we had a suggestion box. This proved to be a very useful tool in knowing what users wanted added, improved and removed. We received a lot of feedback - some good, some bad. This allowed us to add the new features that you will find waiting for you inside your control panel. We will give a little preview of each feature below:

Followers
A major part of the NEW system is the followers feature. You can follow blogs in three ways:
  1. Using the dedicated followers panel from within the NEW control panel;
  2. The blog URL followed by /follow. For example, to follow the NibbleBit Staff blog, visit http://blog.nibblebit.com/follow.
  3. Using the "Follow" button found at the top right corner of every blog.

Messages
Our second missionary aim for the upgrade was to improve sociability - so we thought adding a direct messaging system would be a good place to start. Signed in users can use the message function to send direct messages to other users on NibbleBit. We have two ways to send messages to a user or blog:
  1. From the dedicated messages panel from within the NEW control panel.
  2. The blog URL followed by /message. For example, to send a direct message to the NibbleBit Staff blog, visit http://blog.nibblebit.com/message.

Please Note: The NibbleBit Staff blog has its messaging features turned OFF. You can do the same from the Settings panel within the control panel - but this is generally not recommended as its a perfect way for your viewers to get in touch.

Customization
We have vastly improved the customizable options on your blog - something that we want to do more of. From backgrounds to headers, you can customize the feel and layout of your blog to make your blog unique. Shortly, we will be removing all of the OLD WordPress themes - so we can replace them with NEW "Responsive Fluid" layout themes. These fluid themes will zoom/shrink and adapt to all screen sizes. This means that mobile and tablet users will have a much better experience. We hope to add new themes on a regular basis. We will also be adding NEW apps - which have replaced WordPress widgets.

Help Desk
We have always held the help desk at NibbleBit in high regard. We try to answer all Help Desk tickets within 24-48 hours. To simply this process we have added a comprehensive searchable FAQ list - which should be able to answer many of your issues without even needing to open a ticket.

And much, much more
We have created and improved hundreds of other features - too many to name here. To see these in action - sign in to your blog now.

Future Improvements
NibbleBit 2.0 is not the end point. We will be continuously improving our service based on user feedback. Even before the NibbleBit 2.0 control panel had been released - we are working on NEW features. These include 'likes or favorite' posts, a reading panel in the control panel to show new posts from the blogs you follow, and 're-blogging' (the act of adding another blogs post to your blog with credit notice) etc. Whilst they are not available at the moment - we hope they will will be available early next year.

As always, we would love to hear what you think about the NEW control panel, including any issues and/or improvements we could make. We rely on our users to tell us what is important, and what needs to be improved. Without our users - NibbleBit wouldn't be here.

After over a year of testing - the system is finally ready for release, but as with most software, occasional bugs may lurk around. Please report any bugs your may find by opening a Help Desk ticket, or using the contact page found here.
