Nubar Pop Collection Negative Space Half Moon Mani

press samples

Happy Monday. It was great to be in LA last week, but it feels good to be back to regular life too! Today I have some nail art inspired by Miss Pop. If you kept up on my LA trip recaps, then you know I got to meet her while I was there. I pulled out the Nubar Pop Collection and of course I thought of her! I’ve been working so hard on diligently wearing base coat, so I’m stain-free (woot!) and can finally sport negative space nail designs like the ones Miss Pop is known for. My art today was inspired by her Threeasfour Fall 2013 New York Fashion Week nails (see them here).

I chose Choir Girl, a super subtle grey creme as my base and free-handed a deep moon at the cuticle. I used a clean-up brush and acetone to smooth out any lines I wasn’t happy with. The formula on this one is really smooth and not chalky in the least bit like I expected. It will make a great base for nail art (it’s just a teeny bit darker than OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls). I’m crazy about it.

Miss Pop used white to create a small inverse moon at the tip. Instead, I used Fan Club, a soft teal. I topped it with Nubar Matt Finish matte topcoat. This art takes on a totally different look with square nails I think. I love how clean it is. Sometimes I think I overdo nail art and don’t always appreciate the simple looks.

The entire Pop Collection includes eight cool colors inspired by pop stars. All are described as cremes, but Cover Girl and V.I.P. are really jellies. Wondrously Polished has great swatches here.

The Nubar POP! Collection should be available soon at www.bynubar.com and international retailers. All Nubar polishes are Vegan and 5-free. Follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for news and promotions.
