Kaitlin Hundscheid

first quilt block

I've wanted to learn how to quilt for as long as I can remember. I'm pretty sure it was a symptom of Little-House-on-the-Prairie-syndrome. When I was little, I would (try to) piece together blocks and cry when the points didn't match up. (They apparently still don't always match up, but no tears this time haha.) I sewed my first nine-patch pillow when I was eight and treasured that thing....until I left for college and callously abandoned it along with my baby dolls.

When I learned that Amy from Diary of a Quilter was hosting a virtual quilting bee, I realized that this was the perfect time to take the plunge into big-girl quilting. Choosing fabrics turned out to be less intimidating than anticipated. I went in with a plan to pick Cath Kidstony tones and florals, but I was sucked in by that floral on the cream background and that was the game changer. Turquoise-blue-grey-brown it is. (I know, I'm one of those people that likes grey and brown together. Sue me.)

This week was our first quilt block and I'm already in love...I don't know how I'll wait patiently for the next block pattern! (Oh wait, yeah I do.)
