VISUALS // YOUNG GUV – CRUSHING SENSATION

Young Guv is none other than Ben Cook, who plays guitar for Canadian punks Fucked Up. Despite thrashing his guitar around most of the time, under his Young Guv moniker, he explores his more reflective side with a dose of pop awesomeness in the vein of Destroyer, blending the sounds of Prince with Big Star and Cheap Trick but revealing more and more layers on each listen.

Ben has a fascinating CV; he has ghostwritten for the likes of Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson, was also a child actor (starring alongside a very fresh-faced Ryan Gosling in The Road to Avonlea and kids cult classic Goosebumps), played in the influential Canadian hardcore band, No Warning and runs his own record label, Bad Actors.

In the video for “Crushing Sensation,” we follow Ben around his neighborhood (presumably) as he finds pleasure in the strangest of places. It’s all inspired by his desire to make his body as cool and powerful as the soccer players he sees on TV and the whole thing is shot by Danielle Nemet.
