Wedding Countdown: 10 Months To Go

With 10 months to go, I’ve crossed off a few more things off my to-do list, while also doing some research (aka pinning on Pinterest) on the others. It never ceases to amaze me how much planning goes on behind the scenes of wedding. With each month that goes by, I feel like even more things to do!

Make sure you follow along with me in my wedding series, where I’ll be making a monthly countdown post on wedding planning journey, as well as DIY wedding posts with more details of my wedding planning experiences.

So with 10 months to go, here’s an update of what I’ve completed off my wedding checklist this past month:

1. I Said ‘Yes’ To The Dress!

After trying on what felt like countless dresses I finally said yes to the dress! It’s a Madison James by Allure dress that I’ve had my eye on for awhile. (Now it is one from the collection here, but I’ll leave it up to you to guess which one!) Since it was new for the Fall season, I finally had a chance to try it on this past month. As soon as I put it on, I immediately knew it was ‘the one’. I continued to try on a few more dresses during that appointment, but after putting on the dress, all the other seem to pale in comparison. I’ve put my deposit down for my wedding dress and I can’t wait until it comes in!

Here’s where I found my wedding dress at Ferre Sposa in Toronto

2. Finding a Wedding Planner

As if planning one wedding isn’t already a handful, I have two weddings to plan, not to mention one of them is on the other side of the country, which makes things extra challenging! As much as I am a DIY’er, I quickly realized I really couldn’t do this alone. Having a wedding planner helps you make better decisions, save time, and stay within budget. I’m so blessed my cousin just happens to be a savvy, smart wedding planner! Jessie from Elysium Events has help to guide me on my wedding planning journey by keeping me on task, not to mention given me countless great tips and advice to keep me in check and focused on the reality of wedding planning.

3. Building a Wedding Website

With our venues booked and dates set, it was about time to build a wedding website. Me and my fiancee thought it would be best for us to build our own wedding website. We are both lovers of great design, so the free wedding websites out there just weren’t cutting it for us. Aside from dress shopping, this has been one of my favorite tasks to do so far! Check out my post on Building a Wedding Website where you can also see our finished wedding website as well!

4. Choosing Wedding Colors

Choosing our wedding colors turned out to be much easier than I thought it would be. It really came down to narrowing down our choices one at a time until we had a final decision. To keep things simple, we decided to keep the same color palette for both our weddings. For the details of how we made our choice and our chosen colors, check out my blog post here on Choosing Our Wedding Colors.

We’ve decided to go with a palette of peaches and greys!

5. Shopping for Engagement Photo Dresses

As you might remember from my 11 month update, we’re doing our engagement photos in Paris! (Somebody pinch me, because I still can’t believe it!) I knew I had to find something extra special for this shoot, after all it is Paris! I found the most darling white satin dress from Kate Spade. It’s a classic fit and flare dress with a wide pleated skirt and an open back. My second outfit will be a little more playful with a blush tulle skirt. I have yet to decide what I will pair it with, so you’ll have to wait until the pictures come out!

6. Finding Wedding Officiants

Now this a task we have half done. We have chosen our wedding officiant for one of our Vancouver wedding, which will be Clarence Ash. But we are still searching for one for our Toronto wedding.

7. Getting in Shape

Now being healthy and staying in shape is important for a good lifestyle in general. But in preparation for my weddings, I have an extra reason to motivate myself get fit and healthy. I’m naturally quite thin, so I’m not interested in losing weight, but instead, building more muscle tone and better general fitness. For the past couple months, I’ve gradually been working to cut sugar out of my daily diet. This as been a huge challenge for me since I have the biggest sweet tooth. I’ve also getting back into the gym as well and I’m working towards making it a daily habit!

On the wedding to-do checklist for next month:

  • Flowers
  • Decor
  • Music
  • Finalizing guest lists
  • Save the dates
