MEET: Liza-Anne, Your New Indie-Folk Best Friend

The lights slowly started to turn on as Liza Anne finished her first LA performance at the lovely and quaint Hotel Café. Whispers filled the room and all I could hear was high praise for the Indie-­Folk Artist from Music City.

I met up with Liza after her set and she was such a ball of light. She was seriously the sweetest and most free-­spirited person. I followed her into the Green Room and we “casually” passed Leighton Meester (insert jaw drop emoticon here) and continued to walk into another room that had candlelit tables and a gorgeous chandelier hanging right in the center.

I turned to Liza and with a huge smile on her face she said, “Did you see Blair Waldorf?!!” And in that moment I realized this girl was super down to earth. We talked about her music, her childhood, SXSW, and her love for T Swizzle’s “Blank Space” and guacamole; we kept the conversation really light. We also chatted about how she went to Europe on her own to play and write her music. She started in Paris and got as far as Norway performing at random intimate shows. At that point in the conversation I remember thinking, can we please be besties?

Liza is that friend that seems to have lived for one hundred years and has all the best stories. Her view on life is vibrant and inspired and has positively influenced her music. At the young age of 21, she has a strong sense of maturity in both her vocals and her lyrics. I asked her what she wanted to accomplish with her music and Liza answered with this:

“I think my biggest thing is just making sure people realize they are not crazy. I just don’t want people to feel alone in all the crazy, happy, sad, or whatever it is moments.”

Liza Anne has created an outlet for all of those feelings through her music, which definitely warrants a sigh of relief and immense amounts of gratitude from anyone that listens. You can check out Liza’s new single “Room” below.
