Nom Nom Paleo

About Me:
I love to eat. I think about food all the effing time. I used to think that I could exercise and eat all things in moderation and I’d be fine. Not so much. I kept saying to myself: Why the hell do I still have a muffin top even though I work out harder than my hubby (who has a fucking six-pack)? I’m eating healthy (low-fat, whole grains, and lots of beans), so it can’t be my diet. Must be because men just lose weight faster, right?
Um, no.
The real answer is that 80% of body composition is determined by diet, and only 20% by exercise. And since I switched to eating Paleo/Primal in June 2010, I’ve discovered that this approach is the only thing that’s managed to whittle down my midsection. No more counting of calories (tried that for a miserable, unsustainable 3 months with my BodyBugg), and yet I’m now in the best shape of my life.
I still love to eat. I’ve just cut out the sugar, grains and refined carbs. Eating fatty foods has been so liberating. I’m cooking a lot more these days, but I still go out to eat quite a bit. I’m a little fanatical about eating low-carb, so I try to seek out the best Paleo options when eating out and cooking in. I experiment with cooking sous vide and with my slow cooker and I’ll report my results good and bad. I’m always looking for shortcuts to deliciousness. Enjoy!
