Unladylike Behavior

{The Beginning}
About The Characters
Me: Amber, 24 years old. I’m a living oxymoron, an adventurous bookworm who loves to dress up and play in the dirt. I grew up in a small town in the wine country of California, population 3,000, moved to Sacramento in 2010, lasted 6 months before I moved to a small town on the outskirts of Sacramento area, population 2,000.
Zack: My boyfriend and the love of my life. He truly is my superman. He’s a tough, rugged, fix-it-all who can do anything. Zack works in construction for a living, building anything from a house to a store from the ground up.
Captain: My dog. He is a Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix and spunky as hell. Captain is the second love of my life. If you show me a picture of your child, I follow it up with a picture of my dog. Yeah, I’m that person.

About My Writing
I write about my life. Some would look at the events I write about as mundane. I, however, look at these day-to-day happenings as humorous, wonderful little gifts just waiting to be polished. So I do. I take them, buff them up, pepper them with my own brand of humor, and present them to you, here, as literary gems. You’re welcome.

About This Blog
la•dy [ley-dee]
a woman who is refined, polite, and well-spoken.
I’m not a lady.
I’m messy, clumsy, dirty… I could keep going but I’m sure you get the picture. As a child my mom never could coerce me into wearing shoes. I once fell off a 5 foot wall and landed on the hood of a friend’s car. I often forget to think before I speak and find myself with my foot in my mouth. I’ve never been one to balance a book on my head and repeat ‘The rain in Spain falls mainly on the train.’ I could be that woman, and am so intermittently. I’ll show up wearing Alexander McQueen and rocking Louboutins (hey, a girl can dream, right?) but when the other girls order their salads I’m ordering a burger and a beer. I’ll demurely sip my Bordeaux and discuss the characteristics of that particular vintage of Chateau Latour. But a minute later I’m kicking off those heels and shooting whiskey with the boys.
That’s where the unladylike behavior comes in.
Isn’t it more fun that way?
