Teaching for Understanding! How often have you asked your students to memorize a list of vocabulary words only to find that on the quiz, very few students actually knew how to use these words to make complete sentences and/or answer questions? One too many for me! For this reason, I have committed myself to a lifetime of research for a pedagogy of understanding.
