We're currently looking for: Node JS Developers, several Back-end Engineers and a Sales Director.

Node JS Developer / API Team Lead

We're looking to rebuild our API. It currently serves several thousand requests / second but it needs a better structure on the backend. In order to do this, we need someone who likes to REST.

We want you to take the lead on developing and migrating our API.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a team to migrate our current API without ever breaking it
  • Plan and develop a new API from scratch
  • Work with Node JS to serve millions of users
  • Hack together with a small and talented team of coders

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience with Node JS
  • Several years of experience as a programmer
  • Experience in working with APIs, both building and using them
  • Deep understanding of SQL and relational databases (MySQL), and caching
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and message queues
  • Experience with both unit testing and functional testing
  • Smarts, humility, and equal willingness to learn and teach

Back-end Engineer

We need help.

  • We parse 3 million blogs every hour.
    How can we do that faster and more efficient?
  • We serve recommendations to millions of users.
    How can we make them more accurate?
  • We store feeds of 1000s of posts for lots of people.
    How can we make that faster?

We need help scaling. As bloglovin' grows its userbase, we need to build our backend more modularised and we need people who are amazing at different parts.

What you’ll do:

  • Build services in python and SQL
  • Help create the infrastructure for millions of users discovering new content
  • Work with other talented people in a small team where what you do will make a big impact

What we’re looking for:

  • A person interested in building and scaling web apps
  • Experience with python
  • Experience with low-level languages
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and message queues
  • An interest in computer science and how systems work on a lower level

Sales Director, New York

Bloglovin’ seeks its first in-house Sales Director for a full-time staff position in New York. This will be a key member of the Bloglovin’ team and this role is of critical importance to shaping the future growth and direction of the company. Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will be responsible for accelerating the company’s already rapid revenue growth as it looks to build a top-notch digital sales capability.

Major responsibilities:

  • Help build a sales organization that delivers solutions-based programs for clients, placing an emphasis on partnering strategically with clients to create programs that meet their specific needs.
  • Build and manage internal team processes and functions to deliver on revenue goals and strategies, enabling the company to scale quickly and execute successfully against an aggressive growth plan.
  • Work collaboratively with the product development and technology teams to continually enhance the value of products and services offered to clients and deliver innovative ad products.
  • Serve as an “evangelist” for Bloglovin’ internally and externally; clearly articulate the company’s unique value proposition in the context of a crowded and rapidly changing media marketplace.
  • Promote a collaborative environment that encourages teamwork.
  • Strategically plan, organize and lead activities focused on establishing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with brand marketers; cultivate deep relationships with key decision-makers within agency and client organizations.
  • Maintain clear weekly, monthly and quarterly pipeline and activity reports, enabling the organization to appropriately forecast and scale.

This role is the pillar of the sales organization. With repeated success closing business, this candidate has a significant opportunity to help recruit additional team members to support the growing needs of the sales infrastructure.

Critical Competencies for Success:

The ideal candidate will have successfully operated within a performance-driven digital advertising sales organization for a minimum of 5-years, consistently building revenues and market share. The candidate has a track record of consistently delivering results that are on time and on target.

This person should also have experience with integrated or cross-platform selling as the Bloglovin’ sales proposition continues to evolve to include value across web, mobile and live events such as the Bloglovin’ Awards within the Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle categories.

He or she will have a high degree of credibility and a strong network of relationships in the advertising and marketing communities, and will have demonstrated the ability to open doors and leverage relationships to drive the business forward.

Desired, though not required, is that the candidate has a background in being an early or first sales employee at a fashion/lifestyle startup or media company.
