Abnormal Cat Chewing Behaviors

Pica is a word for an eating disorder in which non-nutritive substances such as litter or dirt are devoured. Whereas plastic has little nutritional value, a cat chewing and then consuming plastic could be considered to have pica. The majority of cats chew or consume plastic because it tastes good or because they enjoy playing with it, rather than because they have an eating problem. However, stress can drive a cat to act irrationally, leading to the development of pica.

In an attempt to vent their emotions, cats with aggressiveness difficulties may chew on plastic wires and other household items. Aggressive behavior can be caused by a variety of factors, including discomfort, inadequate socialization, and stress.

Should you have concerns with your pet's behavior, schedule an appointment with your pet hospital Temecula, CA as soon as possible.
