How To Deal With Bed Bugs Infestation

Dealing with bed bugs infestation can be tough because they can hide anywhere. Likewise, they also have the ability to live for months even without feeding. To end this problem, you will need to look at all possible symptoms of bed bugs and treat them.

1. Hot water

Wash your clothes, sheets, blankets, curtains and other items in hot water. The extremely hot temperature is one of the bedbugs’ weaknesses and can instantly kill them. You can also use very hot steam from a steaming iron to heat objects or areas that you cannot wash thoroughly with hot water.

2. Vacuum

Although vacuum cleaners cannot possibly reach their entire secret spots, doing a careful vacuuming of your carpets, cracks and crevices can help a lot in eradicating bedbugs from specific parts of the house. When you’re done the vacuuming, be certain that the contents are placed in a sealed bag before discarding them. Otherwise, the bugs can escape and continue to live inside your house.

3. Freeze

One of the bedbugs’ characteristics is their being vulnerable to extreme temperatures. A temperature lower than 32F, would slow down and eliminate the bugs.

4. Clothes dryer

Place your clothes, dry or wet, in a dryer. Spin it at medium to high heat for almost half an hour. The high temperature can kill the bedbugs including their eggs.

5. Sun exposure

Other things may not be washed in hot water or dry-cleaned. You may wrap them in a plastic or paper sheet. Put them outdoors where it is very sunny. Leave them there for the entire day.

6. Pesticide Sprays

Use pesticide sprays like Malathion and Permethrin. Be careful when doing this. Ask help and guidance before starting to spray pesticides around your house, particularly in the kitchen.

Killing bed bugs can be tricky, and it is difficult to be certain if you have eliminated all of them. Still, these tips can greatly help in reducing the infestation at home.
