Summer is here and for those of us who want a small oasis in their homes, the balconies are one of the best solutions out there. They are the best place to create a relaxing spot where you can integrate the outside in the inside.

No matter the area, this place can become your spot for reading a book or chilling with your family and friends.

In this specific article, we will talk about the small balconies and how you can take advantage of the entire space.

A small area can be tricky to decorate but if you arrange them in the right way, I can assure you there will be plenty of space.

First of all, you have to make a list of the bare necessities. What you really need in there. I recommend starting with a table and chairs or a small bench. once you have them settled, you can start adding other elements. Flowers are a must because they bring the perfect combination of the inside-outside feeling. Because of the limited area, you can go for small pots hanging by your railing or, in case you have a free corner, for a bigger one that can stand on the floor. When it comes to what type of flowers, here you have to think about the place you live in, the weather and if either your balcony is closed or open.

Other big element is the lighting. Being a balcony, of course you have plenty of natural light during the day. Perfect! But what can we use at night? I really like the dimmed light, soft and warm, which creates a cozy environment. Lanterns are great. Also candles and lamps hanging on the walls or just laying on the table or even on the floor. Make sure the light is not powerful and that is in a warm color.

With all the bare necessities being done, now it is time for decorations. Pillows, blankets, rugs, maybe some posters or memories from different events will make your space a personal one.

A balcony is a perfect spot for those late nights, with a glass of wine and good music. Those times when you want to just relax and read a good book or have a great conversation. And I would suggest to just go for it. There is no room for mistake because nothing is wrong and everything is right. It is your space and you can play with it just the way you want it.
