The 111th FAI General Conference was held in the picturesque city of Lausanne, Switzerland. On 22-28 October 2017, the General Conference, as FAI’s supreme body welcomed plenty of delegates, sponsors, and other guests that came from all over the world. Max Polyakov, managing partner of Noosphere Ventures, was delighted that his company, Noosphere, as FAI’s global technical partner, had the chance to be recognized at the meeting.
The FAI’s 111th FAI General Conference included FAI workshops and discussions, the Executive Board Meeting, General sessions, the Commission President’s Group Meeting, social activities, and the FAI Awards Ceremony. It’s goal is to learn about the latest advancements, innovations, and trends in the industry, and make important decisions for the following 12 months.
The participants of the conference discussed a wide variety of topics included the drone invasion, anti-doping measures, and how the newest innovations have influenced air sports and other important matters about air sports. There was a large number of interesting speakers, like the Egyptian Deputy Ambassador to Switzerland — Magdi, El Derini, and a delegate from the Red Bull Air Race — Erick Wolf. The representative from Noosphere Ventures, the managing partner of which is Max Polyakov, was Yuriy Letser. He presented the new Noosphere development eNavigator tool ("e" from the English words "electronic" and "event") to the audience.
After considering and discussing various issues, two points were agreed on. The first was that the 1st FAI World Drone Racing Championships would take place in Shenzhen, China in the first half of November 2018. The second was that the 113th FAI General Conference would be held in Marrakech, Morocco in 2019.
Also, it is worth mentioning that the managing partner of Noosphere Ventures, Max Polyakov, became an FAI Companion of Honour at the FAI Awards Ceremony. This honour gives Max Polyakov of Noosphere the right to be elected to the FAI Awards Advisory Group and enables him to attend the annual General Conference which is closed to the general public.
The work between Noosphere and FAI began a few years ago and Max Polyakov hopes that it will continue to evolve. He believes that by working together with the FAI, they will make much more development in air sports and achieve greater heights.
