Too Old?

I overheard a conversation between two women recently discusing whether one of them was too old to have a diamond stud in the upper portion of her ear. It brought to mind endless conversations I have had over the years with clients wondering whether long hair, short funky hair, or fantasy colors are appropriate for them "at their age". These are vibrant, confident, accomplished women. Why do they have this voice in their heads telling them that they are too old for change, for risk, for daring?

To them and to people everywhere, I want to say that you are never too old to try something new. Maybe you'll decide you don't like it. So what? You learned something. Maybe you'll discover you love it; it awakens a fiesty side of you that you thought long dead. Hallelujah!

Becoming stagnant makes you old, societal projections on who you should be make you old. Change and variety and open-mindedness keep you young and relatable and relevant. Embrace who you are and who you might be. Embrace possiblities.
