As with all woodworking machines, vertical panel saws are available in a variety of sizes and configurations to suit different types of work. In the United Kingdom, the most common size machine offers a maximum plate capacity of 3300 x 1550 mm, this is enough to accommodate a standard 10 x 5 'or 8 x 4' table. This model would be known as a 155.
Higher Capacity Machines Are Available
While custom sizes are available (shorter, longer, taller), there are three standard sizes available; 155 (as mentioned above), 185 with a capacity of 3300 x 1850 mm and 215 with a capacity of 4400 x 2150 mm. The work footprint needed to operate these models increases with capacity, but the depth from the front to the back of the machines does not vary and requires around 1500 mm.
Standard machines feature a 250 mm diameter saw blade that offers a 55 mm cutting depth for single or multiple blades. The increased depth of cut is achieved in larger models. For specialized applications that require a depth of cut of up to 150 mm it is also possible most recent models. The dual saw beams allow to be equipped with 450 mm diameter saw blades, ideal for panels with structural insulation (SIPS).
Precision And Quality Of Cut
The wall saws can be as precise as the sliding table panel saw, but it depends on the brand. Once installed and put into service by professionals trained in the factory, a vertical panel saw will offer years of precise operation and without problems. Take a look at our panel saw menu to find out more details.
ADVANCE Double-Cut Scoring Controls
The accuracy is only half of the story. The quality of the cut is just as important and the vertical panel saws are also highlighted here. Some models offer a special scoring unit found in sliding table saws. These should be inspected carefully, as they are often little more than static knives. The main blade is used to make a reverse cut of the "back cut" with a limited depth of immersion that scores the material effectively before a full cut is made those results in a sharp edge without breaking. This process can be clearly seen in the video below.
Operator Safety And Ease Of Use
One of the main benefits of a vertical panel saw is the ease of operation. As you have read, the operation of panel saw is relatively simple. Additional features, such as electronic digital readings, make setting up the machine even easier and guarantees.
The most dangerous part of the machine, the saw blade, retracts behind its own protection when it is not in use. In addition, a safety pressure shoe with suspended load surrounds the blade when cutting, securing the work piece and making it almost impossible for the operator to cut anything other than the material. Improper use and lack of training are the main causes of accidents in woodworking machines. Remember, it is a legal requirement that all operators must receive adequate training.
