Help save Oregon parks #saveOregonparks

Only when the last tree has died, and the last river poisoned, and the last fish been caught, only then will we realize that we cannot eat money. -Cree Proverb. When I first started traveling and somebody asked where I was from, they had never even heard of Oregon. They would usually give me a blank stare and say something like, “Is that in the Midwest?” To which I would laugh and say, “It’s in the Pacific Northwest! Above California!” Over the past couple of years, photos on Instagram and books such as “Wild” by Cheryl Strayed have put Oregon on the map. People from all over the world began to fall in love with the forests and waterfalls, the lakes and streams where I grew up fishing, hiking, camping and swimming. They began to fall in love with the natural beauty that is Oregon. Now when someone asks me where I’m from, they get stars of excitement in their eyes and tell me all about their travel plans to Oregon, how they are going to live in a van and drive up the coast, camp in its many forests, and swim in the countless pristine waterfalls.
