Tech User Talk – New Baby in the Block, LG Nexus 5X

Think of LG and the first thing that comes to my mind is the relief we got in those days when Samsung and Nokia ruled the roost with price tags that a commoner found difficult to acquire. Bang came LG with prices that were affordable and features more or less matching the big gamer. That was a period when mobiles were getting into every household and LG made it easier with our vegetable vendor sporting it in her specialized pull purse. And the market grew with many more brands entering the fray. The Nexus family of LG is so dear to us and now it has come out with a new entrant, LG Nexus 5X. We are writing about it in this post and why we chose it for our aunt.. Read on…

If there is something more personal than your spouse, it is mobiles today. This tiny gadget has become the world for many and is instrumental in taking our home makers into the new world of possibilities. We no more have frogs in the well in our grand mothers and great aunts knowledge and attitude. Thanks to the burgeoning mobile era. It can be two sides of the coin but mobiles have become an integral part of our life. My aunt is the new entrant into the mobile world and having experienced the goodness of Whatsapp and Facebook to connect to her dear ones through my phone, she wants a new phone. A clear line is drawn that the phone should be futuristic with a good camera, thanks to my daughter who has pulled her into the Selfie zone and taught her various tools to edit too. So the demand is not ordinary and yes, she wants it secured. She has son and daughter looking for a chance to lay hands on any mobile they come across ( yes, parents have banned mobiles as it was affecting their studies).

We found LG Nexus 5X a good option as it has the fingerprint sensor and so it is easy for my aunt to keep away mobicksters (mobile tricksters). For my aunt who has lived a life with her husband in the Army, good camera is a must. She was looking at sharing pictures and with her vast network of army officers family and so Camera quality played a vital role. She is excited to make it a social tool and Yes, we are also teaching her to blog. So hopefully we will see a cooking star blog in the next few days. LG Nexus 5x satisfied us in this front too. It has 1.55μm-sized pixels and can take pictures under any light condition, a must have for my aunt who does not know much about photography.

My aunt loves to travel and mostly on pilgrimage tours. She wanted to be on touch and be able to take pictures and share with us. But the most important aspect we all face is with the battery charging time. With all the apps that we download, after all that is what apps are for, it can be quite a drain and her new found fancy with Candy Crush Saga, we wanted a long lasting (?) battery, if not a quick recharging system for the battery. Here too, LG Nexus 5x scores a high with Non-removable Li-Po 2700 mAh battery and its reversible USB Type-C charger that charges at lightning speed.

From our viewpoint and requirement LG Nexus 5x seems to be the right fit. For all those interested in technical information, LG Nexus 5x is 5.2 inches screen, Nano-sim, 16/32 GB storage and comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon, lovely marmallow (nope, it is the OS – Android 6 also called Marshmallow) Corning Gorilla Glass 3 (butter fingers need not worry about your phone now), oleophobic coating (No more fingerprints on the glass, so go ahead swipe it while cooking :-O) Primary (back) camera is 12.3 MP with laser autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash with 1.55µm pixel size, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, photo sphere, HDR, dual recording. The secondary camera (Selfie) is 5 MP.
