Runway Report: Gucci Fall 2016

Designer Alessandro Michele sent down a swarm of vibrant models drenched in rich fabrics and 3 dimensional futuristic silhouettes, which more than made up for the delayed start to his Fall 2016 runway show. Guests looked on at the new seasons collection which was aptly described by the creative director as, ‘The Renaissance arrives at Studio 54’ boasting an interactive show-space where models walked between transparent panels and amongst walls with digitally projected flowers.

From long fringe to printed silk, billowy sleeves and graffiti adorned bags, Alessandro Michele set the stage and the season to look like the “Gucci girl comes alive”. From what we can see she is confident, chic, has great hair and only the best accessories. The Fall 2016 range came off a little 70’s inspiration thanks to a light-hearted take on structured fabrics. Brocade was embellished with long fur panels, tailoring was appliqued with jewels, and hats were overlaid with net detailing; oh and did we mention colored tights may be back?

It would be innocent for us to pin-point what color palette we observed as there truly was a splash of everything. The next season definitely calls for mix’n’match layering, color-clash and a whole lot of sequins because, you know, why not!
