Jingle All the Way Side Step Card - Stampin Up

Okay, okay, I have had a hard time putting this set down along with the Sleigh Ride Edgelits. I played with it ALL weekend, and at the very last part of the day on Sunday I got this awesome idea.

You see, last year, I did a side step card with the Holiday Home set using a tutorial over at Splitcoaststampers.

It was a very successful card, and I got to thinking, "What if?" "Why not!" and "Make it so!" So I spent some time on Sunday then got up on Monday and just had to finish it. Just HAD to. And this morning I just have to show you!

GOJUS! (YILM!) I tinkered with this A LOT. I mean A LOT A LOT. I did my trick of double cutting each of the dies with the colored cardstock and the vanilla and trimming away the vanilla images above the slope.

First, I figured out pretty quickly that the trees were not something you wanted just hanging out at the top of a slope layer all by their lonesome. Those trunks are mighty skinny and they start looking pretty sad and bent over really quickly. So I decided to add the backing piece behind the trees at the top and move the other tree piece so it was supported by the house piece.

"But Jan," you say, "How come the sleigh is on the RIGHT side of the hill when the die has it on the left side? Why, Jan, why?" Why, darlin', you don't think that just because the people at Stampin' Up! put the sleigh on the left side that it has to STAY there, do you? I simply cut the sleigh away from the rest of the red slope and slid it down behind the vanilla slope until it was in the right spot. I did end up adding another piece of red card stock on the left behind the vanilla piece just to make sure there was no line, either visually from the color showing through or physically from the edge of the card stock making a visible bump. Because I'm horribly nitpicky like that.

All that was left was to decorate this part, and I love these Snowflake Elements with a bit of gold bakers twine. Oh, and yeah, one of the Home for Christmas dots and a couple of trees jut to give it some balance.
