Martha’s Vineyard home designed for an art collector

This contemporary home was designed by architecture and design studio Ashe Leandro, for an avid art collector, located in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Comprised of three interconnected structures, the residence showcases a very impressive collection, with the great room alone housing the likes of photographer Rashid Johnson, artist Sterling Ruby, British painter and printmaker Howard Hodgkin and artist Aaron Young. The striking light fixtures hanging from the ceiling were commission pieces, created in collaboration with Urban Electric Co. The beautiful seating arrangement invites conversation around the fireplace, while exposed wood support structures injects warmth. The sofas and slipper chairs are designer pieces by Christian Liaigre, that are decorated with striped pillows sources from Ralph Lauren Home. The great room opens up to the outdoors by pocket doors, connecting the space seamlessly with the deck and drawing in fresh breezes during the summer months. Entertaining guests both indoors and out is an easy transition for the homeowners. We love all the fascinating artwork, it really dresses up the white walls, adding personality and a very polished aesthetic. The great room features a custom designed cocktail table by Robert Pluhowski, paired with armchairs by Jean Prouvé, which seems to frame either side of the pocket doors. The area rug pulls the space together, completing the overall aesthetic, created by textile designer John Robshaw.

The breakfast nook features a cozy banquette style seating area accented by pull out chairs on one side.

A Waterworks designed master bathroom decorated in white and punctuated with silver accents is a soothing spa retreat.

This long, light-filled corridor takes you to the guest wing, which culminates with a red bullseye painting designed by Ned Vena. At night, the space is illuminated by pendant lamps affixed to the ceiling, sourced from Obsolete.

The guest wing has its own kitchenette, allowing visitors their own convenience and privacy.

A family room in the guest wing features an inviting blue sectional accented with various pillows for added comfort.

A game room in the basement helps entertain family and friends, decorated with a geometric tiled floor partially covered by a striped area rug in shades of blue. A timber clad ceiling adds warmth to the space, while artwork adds visual interest.
