easy artwork for boy’s room

My son and I were trying to figure out what we wanted to put over his bed. I loved this idea of a basketball hoop mounted on weather wood that I saw on Fixer Upper:

So we ordered one from Amazon, but guess what? While they were waiting for me to get to the room the boys put it up on the door downstairs and it was THE favorite thing of the winter, they played indoor mini basketball all of the time and it saved us all. It really is a great hoop if you’re in the market for one. Or could make a really cute project if you end up doing the hoop for decor thing. I just knew it wouldn’t stay on the wall when I saw my kids dunking on it.

I for sure didn’t want to take it down, so we went to plan B. I had remembered seeing some industrial prints in a boy’s room in the Parade of Homes:

My oldest loves sports, so we searched for basketball court and baseball field measurements and found some cool free plans that we sent to Staples and had printed off in 18X24 size for only $2 each. I believe we used were this one for basketball and this one for baseball. Of course you could search for football, soccer, etc. as well! You can just save them to your computer and then make them the size you want in a photo editing program.

Now for the frames, I picked these up at a local estate sale for $1 each!! They were nice and big with solid wood frames and the mat was a great blue/gray color. I was so excited! I ended up removing the cream/yellow mat to make them a bit more modern.

We used leftover spray paint from this lamp makeover to spray paint the frames and then just hung them up above the bed.

This so qualifies for Under $10 Under 1 Hour! You know I love easy, inexpensive projects – we’re finishing up his room this week, finally!!

I hope you find inspiration for your own home from something shared today~
