A Baked Salmon Recipe and Its Beauty Benefit

Healthy skin, healthy hair, happy life.

Forget about the gross-me-out fish oil pills, I am all about natural and organic beauty care when it comes to youthful and radiant looking skin as well as gorgeous hair.

Often, we waste time and money on skin and hair care products that just collect dust and take up precious space. An efficient and inexpensive way is through food intake, to nurture the internal body to obtain glowing looking skin and lustrous hair from inside out.

Salmon has a reknowned reputation as a healthy food based on its high content of omega-3 fatty acid. It locks moisture into skin cells, encouraging the production of strong collagen and elastin fibers, which contribute to more youthful looking skin. Omega-3s have also been known to alleviate skin blemishes. As for hair, it helps maintain a good luster, provides nourishment to hair follicles, helping hair grow healthy and preventing hair loss.

This recipe not only has omega-3, but is loaded with Vitamin C, D and E.

Eating and beautifying at the same time is a win-win wowzer.

Baked Salmon with Citrus Sauce

Preparing Time: 5 minutes 30 minutes marinating
Baking Time: 15 – 20 minutes
Serving: 2

Ingredients:
2 tsp black or white toasted sesame seeds
1 lb salmon
1-inch fresh ginger, thinly sliced
2 spring onion or leeks, thinly sliced lengthwise
2 shitake mushroom, stalks removed and thinly sliced
2 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp mirin
1/2 tsp dashi
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp orange zest

Preparation:
Wash the salmon and pat dry with paper towel. Cut a baking paper large enough to enclose the salmon on all sides. Place salmon in the center of baking paper. Arrange a bundle of spring onion, mushroom and ginger on salmon.

Combine well together the soy sauce, mirin, dashi lemon juice, and orange zest in a ramekin. Drizzle over salmon. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and carefully wrap the salmon, folding the sides to seal in all the juices. Place in fridge to marinade for at least 30 minutes.

When ready to eat, preheat the oven to 425F. Remove from fridge and arrange the salmon parcel on a baking tray and bake for 15 – 20 minutes, or until tender. The paper will puff up when the fish is cooked. Beware not to overcook or the salmon will dry out. Serve immediately with rice.

Will you be adding salmon to your meal intake? Let me know in the comment section.

Have a beautiful day!
