The Ever Magic Paris

Inside Gab & Jo, the ultimate Parisian concept store.
Yesterday, before meeting Deb Chase for tea at Ladurée, I wandered around the sixth arrondissement. The sixth, as many of you know, is one of the city's most sparkling bijoux.

As always, I found a little treasure. This one is at 28 rue Jacob: Gab & Jo a boutique billed as a "Concept Store à la Française" -- the "concept store" part is in English because, as we all know, the concept of concept stores is ultra In. (I think I'm late to the party, but better late than. . .)

Pour les enfants, games, puzzles, books and more.
The boutique is a true find, one of those serendipitous discoveries that make me fall in love with Paris -- yet again.

From floor to ceiling, with overflowing tables and shelves, every object is Made in France. I bought two children's books and intend to return when I have more time. The owner told me he named the shop after his two children. Then he whipped out the stunningly sober Louis Vuitton Guide to Paris in which he features prominently. And well he should.

The très chi-chi Louis Vuitton guide to Paris.
"We're getting a lot of press," he said. "Oh, look, did you see this one-of-a-kind bleu, blanc, rouge cat collar?"

I missed it, but I did notice a smartphone cover featuring Karl and his famous cat, Choupette, in a white on black motif.

I'm wondering, is an Eiffel Tower entirely too kitsch? I suspect it is. One might be sweet in Ella Madeleine's room, non?
Just for fun, click here and you'll get a bit of an idea why you must put Gab & Jo on your To-Do list the next time you come to Paris.
