Covenant Gear: Not Just Another Christian T-Shirt Company

From À LA MODEST

When I stumbled upon Covenant Gear, I quickly realized that this wasn’t just another Christian t-shirt company to add on to the pile of the many faith-based graphic tee companies out there. First off, “Jesus Freak,” “True Love Waits,” “Modest is Hottest” weren’t on any of their t-shirts. There’s nothing wrong about these slogans in themselves of course, but frankly, they are expected to be everywhere. No, there was something different about them.

First of all, being a graphic designer, I would be proud to wear the designs they have. They are original, and they aren’t kitschy. I also highly praise them for having high-cut necklines for the women! I’ve had to personally turn down, as a modesty blogger myself, t-shirts given to me, because they were personally too low. I don’t mind layering my tops, of course. As you all know, layering is a skill that modest fashion bloggers learn very early on. However, I just want to wear a t-shirt on my laid back days you know, which is actually 80% of the time! I’m glad to see that you don’t have to think about what to wear underneath or on top of many of Covenant Gear’s tees.

If this isn’t enough to convince you how different they are (at least for me), what really stands out about Covenant Gear is their message and their priorities. I literally think lives are being transformed by the power of their message. I should say rather, the transformative message of Christ, beautifully presented on their graphic tees.

You may call it just good marketing strategy, but something tells me otherwise. Speaking with founder Merideth Parrish, for example, gave me renewed respect and confidence in Christian businesses, especially ones that put Christ first, and the customer second.

Read a few excerpts from her testimony:

Merideth wandered away from God in search of the ‘perfect fix’ to heal her brokenness, her self-mutilation and her strong desire to belong. She tried everything – from weight loss plans to high paying jobs, and although those material and monumental accomplishments brought her moments of pride and promotion, they were fleeting nonetheless.

With a renewed desire for life and an insatiable love for Jesus Christ, Merideth created Covenant Gear™ to inspire the world to wear the promises of God – not just as fashionable garments, but as supernatural guarantees from God himself. We were made to thrive, to be victorious and to do much more than survive

It was clear to me that they weren’t just selling beautiful vintage tees. Through Covenant Gear, we learn about stories of how others wear the promises of God on a daily basis. Instead of just a store, it also acts as a community of engagement in which people of faith connect with a shirt design, a bible verse, or a source of hope because it resonates with their own story. Haven’t we all found something like this to be true in our lives?
