Essential Beauty Items for Your Carry-On

One of the most difficult things about travelling is working out what to take with you. Long haul flights are often tough due to the long hours spent in highly pressurised air conditioned air. This, often combined with a lack of sleep does not bode well for our skin. For those of us who like to stick to skincare and makeup routines, fitting it all into one carry-on can be troublesome; sacrifices must often be made.
Here are the essential skincare and makeup items I pack in my travel carry-on.

Skincare

Face Wipes

Face wipes are great at removing any makeup or grime, and leave your skin feeling refreshed.

Makeup remover

I find I need to carry a proper makeup remover in addition to face wipes to make sure my skin is 100% makeup free.

Cleanser

A gentle cream cleanser is great for cleansing without stripping the skin of moisture.

Exfoliater

A facial scrub is a good way to get rid of any flaky or dry skin resulting from the cabin environment.

Moisturiser

A good quality moisturiser is absolutely essential in a pressurised cabin to keep dehydration at bay.

Eye Cream

To combat under-eye circles and bags, especially for those of us who don't sleep well on planes.

Eyedrops
The highly air-conditioned and pressurised cabin air leave my eyes feeling dry and irritated. Eye drops are a must to keep my eyes lubricated.

Hand Sanitiser

The confined space increases the risk of getting sick. Although this won't help much if your stuck next to a passenger cough and sneezing, it doesn't hurt to use sanitiser as an extra precaution.

Makeup

Concealer

Great for combating any under eye circles and blemishes - I always happen to get both after a long haul flight!

Mascara

I use a quick coat of mascara to brighten and wake up the eyes. Not going for any dramatic length or volume.

Travel Size Blush

I like to go for a natural pink just to put a bit of colour back into my cheeks. Again, nothing too over the top.

Mini Travel Brushes

These brushes are so handy - they also live in my everyday handbag. I use them to apply blush and blend concealer.
