Sometimes I Get Homesick

(Cue my cousin, Kylie, preparing a text me saying she’s found me an apartment in Royal Oak and a boyfriend in Ferndale.)

I’ve lived in Chicago for ten years now, but every once in a while I catch myself thinking about moving back to Michigan. The pull is especially strong taking three-hour round trips on public transportation in the throes of frigid winter. (Also, an thus far unsuccessful apartment hunt – parts of which have been a literal car crash.)

If you see any good apartments in West Town or generally near the northern half of the Blue Line, let me know!

The vast majority of my family lives 45 minutes from one another. It takes less than an hour to get to the heart of Detroit – before you make a crack at that, please consider this – and a little longer to the socialist haven that is Canada. It’s full of memories, favorite sports teams, and delicious chocolate.

Alas, I can feel a beautiful Chicago spring-a-springing in my bones, so homesickness should abide soon. Right?
