A Thoughtful Place

Gold Glittered Easter Pots

I’m so honored to be a part of the 12 Months of Martha program for the second year in a row. The other bloggers that are included always blow me away with their creativity and talent. I think what I love most about the program is that the bloggers involved work really hard to create projects that are easy to replicate. For my first project of the year, I wanted to do something that could be applicable for any holiday or occasion. It’s important to me that my readers be able to see something and instantly know that they could use or adapt it to fit their own needs. Today, I am sharing gold glittered Eater pots. But truly, these can be used year round. And who can resist gold glitter?!

Simple. Easy. Glitzy. These Easter pots can be used down the center of a pretty table, on a front porch, or even given as sweet gifts. They are remarkable easy to make. Crank up some great music and enjoy creating.

Supplies:

  • Clay pots {around $1.00 a pot}
  • Martha Stewart paint {Pumpkin, Emerald City, Raspberry Ice, Meyer Lemon, Wedding Cake, Gold Metallic}
  • Martha Stewart Stencils
  • Martha Stewart Gold Glitter and Glitter Glue
  • Paint brushes
  • Martha Stewart Glitter Tray {best invention ever}

Step 1: Paint the pot white. Easy breezy. Allow to dry for about 20-30 minutes {this is when I clean the house or do some laundry. No joke}.

Step 2: Paint the rim gold. When using glitter, I like to paint the surface the same color as the glitter. I do this because if a spot gets missed or if any flakes off over time, you will never know. Tried and true trick. I LOVE these foam brushes. The brush is the exact width of the rim and is perfect for adding the gold paint. Be sure to paint the inside of the pot just a bit in case it shows.

Step 3: These adhesive stencils are FANTASTIC. The super cool thing is that they stick to any surface and are awesome for curved surfaces. Once you place the stencil down, apply a light coat of paint and remove the stencil {while the paint is still wet}. They clean up so nicely and are reusable. I use the foam brushes for this as you can place a tiny bit of paint on a corner. Foam brushes also rinse off and dry so quickly. Great for when you want to keep a project moving!

Step 4: The fun part! Adding glitter! Apply a nice coat of glitter glue on the gold edge

Step 5: Shake a generous amount of glitter on the edge. I always use my glitter tray. This thing is genius. Seriously. It catches the entire mess AND you get so save all of the excess glitter {which is half the bottle}.

Step 6: Add the flower! You could even fill these with candy. Anything goes. Such a simple and fun way to add some holiday cheer without breaking the bank.

What I really love about these is that you could easily paint over the sweet little Easter decorations after the holiday. It would take a tiny bit of white paint and you could either enjoy the gold and white pots or move on to the next holiday. Those who know me really well, know that I am a minimalist at heart and I don’t like to keep a ton of things around. So with these, you can reuse over and over for any occasion. And gold glitter is just plain fun! In case you are planning to make these, it took me about an hour including dry time. It would be a really simple and fun craft night activity if you and your friends are ever up for it.

Have a wonderful day. . . . and to see more of my 12 Months of Martha projects go here.
