The white shirt is a menswear staple. If you’re a man reading this right now and you’ve just realized that you don’t own a perfect white shirt, then this post is very much for you. For those who think they already have the perfect white shirt, you might think again after reading on!

I was recently introduced to Ministry of Supply, a men’s clothing line that marries the technology of outdoor athletic apparel with the tailoring of sharp, professional attire. To get a sense of what exactly that means, I took their Archive dress shirt for a test wear. I went for their slim fit, which hugged my arms and torso just enough, without looking too tight. The shirt looked great as soon as I put it on and stayed crisp and wrinkle-free throughout the day, after a quick iron on low heat.

The fabric is a combination of polyester and elastene, similar to your work out gear, but remixed to be soft, light and moisture-wicking, while allowing for a natural range of motion. The creators behind Ministry of Supply also added barely-visible, laser-drilled perforations at the underarms of the shirt for ventilation, keeping you cool and dry. They really thought of everything.

Inspired by the Archive shirt, I put together this look to reflect the fusion of athletic and professional wear. Top coat versus trainers, tied together with classic black jeans and of course, the perfect white shirt.
