There are so many times when I am watching awards shows (usually when everyone is arriving!) where I wonder what it would be like to wear those gowns. The tailoring is usually crazy on point, the fabrics are beautiful, & the stars are dazzling. Well I’m sure they’re also quite dizzy- flashbulbs are seriously blinding. Then I curl up on my couch & think about how a bunch of them are in rickety heels…have a staff to replace bobby pins…& end up on the cover of magazines when they don’t wear makeup. Okay…so we don’t have much in common.

CUTOUTS & PATTERNS

Normally patterns hide a lot of things…but it really depends! If the pattern has specific lines a VPL (visible panty line!) can really look harsh. Patterns with large white spaces where your underwear will be are also a trouble-zone. You might think the third dress above would be easy to pull off…but this dress is tighter than it looks! In order for the laser cutout back to stay taunt the rest of the dress is likely tighter as well… & you’re going to want to #GoCommando to fight that for sure!

WHITE & NEUTRALS

Lighter colors often make VPLs super prominent! I feel like I don’t have to explain too much why right? Also the lace/patterns make it more difficult as well! Panties? Not here.

METALLICS

Metallics…so stunning to wear…but they definitely have a downfall! When you were anything underneath that isn’t perfectly smooth the light will bounce off. This will be completely obvious. Unless just the top is metallic…well you get where I’m going here right? You’re on a quick train to VPL city.
