Insomniac Sale Picks: Trench Coats

Although it lacks some traditional trench coat touches, I loved the look of this sleek, short, double-breasted version. And it’s machine-washable! Reviewers love this trench, but warn that it runs small, so order with that in mind. Available in this navy as well as black, pale khaki, or coral in sizes XS – XL. London Fog Hooded Belted Maxi Trench – was $220, now $169.99
Hoods are extremely practical, but I feel like they gunk up the lines of a trench. Luckily, the hood on this coat is removable, so if you’re not a fan you can take it off and leave it at home. I love the length here, and the simple elegance of the pared-down, single-breasted design. Available in this khaki as well as black in sizes XS – XXL. Exact coat also available in petite and plus sizes.
Land’s End Harbor Cropped Trench Coat – $99
Sneaking this one in tonight even though it’s not currently on sale for two reasons: That fantastic Land’s End size diversity, and a great variety of colors. (Cady emailed me just yesterday asking for colorful trenches.) This is a short, single-breasted version but features the traditional gun patches and epaulets. Available in this bright rose as well as clay, white, black, or navy in sizes XS – XL as well as petite, plus, and tall sizes. Size availability varies by color.
J.Crew Factory Trench Coat – was $198, now $117.60

You can hardly get more classic than this. Hitting at mid-thigh, this coat is a great middle-ground between cropped and maxi and excepting epaulets, has all the trimmings of a traditional trench. Available in regular sizes 00 – 20 and petite sizes 00 -12. This similar mid-thigh length coat is available in tall and plus sizes.
