Capturing Shoreditch
Aside from Joburg, London is hands down my favourite city. Ever time I step off the train, I experience something entirely new and learn about myself in a new way. It's just one of those magical cities that reveals another facet of itself every time I visit. This time around, I headed down to her magical streets to see one of my best friends, Sam, otherwise known as TechGirl's Editor; blogger at That Place in My Head and all time amazing human being. Sam was in town on behalf of LG and with one week's notice, we scheduled a much needed meet up. Meeting up on Oxford Street with her and Nafisa, we decided to venture to Shoreditch, an quirky area I had only heard about through Instagram.
Once we had navigated our way down the Curry shops, past a mosque or two, we found ourselves on Brick Lane - a street humming with Vintage shops, hipsters and graffiti. I loved the mishmash of diverse people, narrow alley ways with hooded graffiti artists, the aroma of fresh curry and the sense something old historic London entangled with a newer, grittier and modern time. It felt quintessentially London - eclectic, exciting and a little bit dirty. We were all hooked!
One of the places I had heard about via Instagram was Rough Trade East , an independent music store with a massive selection of music, books and freshly brewed coffee. It is also the home of one of the best Photo Booths I've ever seen. Visiting Rough Trade East for the photo booth was one of my main motivations for visiting Shoreditch and it was as much fun as I hoped it would be.
