a short love story about avocado plants
I can't remember what started this, but a few years ago I suddenly wanted an avocado plant in my life. In the beginning I saved two pits and tried to make them come alive, I planted one in soil and placed another one with its butt into water. They both started rotting after a while. People kept telling me to put them into water since that is how it should be done, but honestly the water approach never worked for me. I gave up.
Last year I put two pits into soil again and kept watering, and a few weeks later something happened. They started cracking and soon these tiny, soft light green leaves where finding their way up. They kept growing into little plants. I was worried they wouldn't survive winter, but to my surprise they seemed fine all along.
Not long ago new sprouts started coming and one of them is almost too big to fit in my kitchen window. The little one just got a new pot. I hope I can keep them alive.
