Sound Off: How Far Do You Go When Staging Your Home to Sell?

We're getting ready to list our house for the first time ever, and I've been agonizing over how to best stage the space. We've decluttered, re-organized, and will be removing a few of the kids' things (like the play kitchen, play table, etc.) from the main living areas, but there's one big question on my mind: What about the wallpaper?

We have a few accent walls in our home where we've either wallpapered or painted murals, and I was planning on removing them. But when I've brought up the idea to my parents and friends, they were shocked and disagreed with me. They think that the accent walls add character to the space. I'm worried that they will distract potential buyers.
