Travel: Les Ardennes

Weekend getaway in Corbion-sur-Semois
When you work long hours it's quite impossible to do anything in evenings, I especially shield away from my laptop. It happened more than once that my eyes turned completely red from staring at a computer screen too long so it's also better for my health really. It really makes me appreciate weekends so much more, not only can I finally blog (yay!), but they're perfect for mini weekend getaways like this one we did two weeks ago to the Belgian Ardennes. I often overlook that side of Belgium, don't know why really, it has a peaceful atmosphere, fresh air, hills & even cool cultural spots.

While at first sight you'd think oh my god there is absolutely nothing to do there, how can I survive without my internetz? Even though technically my iPhone was still connected and the hotel offered wifi too. The whole atmosphere of being away from it all just made me instantly relax, I didn't check into instagram or twitter every 10 minutes. If I didn't want to keep you guys updated, I might have switched my phone off completely. Honestly I need more of these experiences where the only thing on my mind was taking long walks with the guy I love, talking about anything, being fully present. And of course eat delicious food, gosh it was really divine!

We were offered this weekend trip sponsored* by Logis . For those who don't know it, this chain of hotels offers a personal experience, originality & comfort. Best of all: each hotel wants you to get to know a specific city, region or country by showing you it's beauty, resources and the gastronomic specialities of their local region. You can also select the right type of hotel that meets your individual needs by their symbols. Do you love to go fishing? Search for the fish symbol, a squirrel dictates beautiful nature, etc. We chose our Hôtel des Ardennes by the 3 cooking pots which means the restaurant is a culinair treasure. And also for the nearby city of Bouillon, it has a castle that dates from the 8th century! Obviously with some modifications over the centuries. Anyway I'll take you through the experience with me in my little video!
