Painting a Cloudy Sky

Last week, fourth graders learned how to make watercolor clouds after they painted a bald eagle.

1. The drawing was made as shown on my Bald Eagle Tutorial. I used 6″ x 9″ watercolor paper so it could go in their recycled journals.
2. The art was traced with a permanent marker.
3. Small details such as the branch, beak, eyes and feet were colored with crayons.
4. The body was painted brown, and the sky blue. While the paint was still wet, they dabbed at it with a tissue to suck up extra paint and leave a white cloud.
